What is PDF to Image Converter

PDF to Image is a powerful, browser-based tool that converts each page of your PDF into a high-quality image. Whether you need screenshots of documents, images for presentations, social media posts, or web content โ€” this tool handles it all without uploading your files to any server.

Output Format Guide

PNG โ€” Best for Screenshots & Documents

Lossless compression preserves every detail. Supports transparency. Ideal for text-heavy documents, diagrams, and screenshots. Larger file size but perfect quality.

JPEG โ€” Best for Photos & Sharing

Lossy compression creates smaller files. Best for photo-heavy PDFs. Adjustable quality slider. No transparency support. Most universally compatible format.

WebP โ€” Best Overall Compression

Google's modern format offers 25-35% smaller files than JPEG at same quality. Supports transparency. Great for web use. Supported by all modern browsers.

AVIF โ€” Next-Generation Format

Newest format with the best compression ratio. Up to 50% smaller than JPEG. Supports transparency and HDR. Growing browser support. Ideal for web optimization.

BMP โ€” Uncompressed Bitmap

Raw, uncompressed format. Very large files but zero quality loss. Used in legacy applications and specialized workflows.

TIFF โ€” Professional Print Quality

Industry standard for print and publishing. Supports layers and high bit depths. Large files. Used in professional photography, scanning, and desktop publishing.

GIF โ€” Simple Graphics

Limited to 256 colors. Best for simple graphics with few colors. Supports transparency. Very small files for the right content.

SVG โ€” Scalable Vector (Embedded Raster)

Wraps the page image in an SVG container. Can be embedded in HTML and scaled without pixelation of the container. The embedded raster image maintains its original resolution.

ICO โ€” Favicon & Icon Format

Creates icon-sized images (max 256ร—256). Perfect for generating favicons or application icons from PDF pages. Automatically scales down to icon dimensions.

Resolution & DPI Guide

The scale setting controls image resolution. A standard PDF page is 595ร—842 points. At 1x (144 DPI), you get crisp screen-quality images. At 2x (288 DPI), images are sharp enough for most printing. At 4x (576 DPI), you get ultra-high resolution suitable for professional printing and large-format output. Higher scale = larger file sizes but sharper results.

Quality Settings

For JPEG, WebP, and AVIF formats, the quality slider controls the compression level. 100% gives maximum quality with larger files. 80-90% is usually the sweet spot for good quality with reasonable file size. 50-70% is good for web use where small file size matters more than pixel-perfect quality.

Transparency Support

PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, SVG, and ICO formats support transparent backgrounds. Enable the "Transparent background" option to remove the white background from your converted images. This is useful for overlaying PDF content on other designs. JPEG and BMP do not support transparency โ€” a solid background color will always be used.

Batch Processing & ZIP Download

Select multiple pages and convert them all at once. Each page becomes a separate image file. When you have multiple images, use the "Download All (.zip)" button to get everything in a single compressed archive. Individual download buttons are also available for each image.

Privacy & Security

Your PDF files never leave your computer. All rendering and conversion happens entirely in your web browser using the pdf.js library for PDF rendering and the Canvas API for image generation. No data is sent to any server, no cookies are used, and no information is stored. This tool is completely safe for confidential, sensitive, or private documents.
